Day 5 - Mmm-h-mm I want to Linger
We also had an amazing ceremony to celebrate each and every guide/ranger got told how many nights away we did and the leaders kindly gave us all a badge. We are so grateful we were able to go on this trip thank you to all the people who helped organise it we hope to go on many more.
After our closing ceremony, it was time to head to the airport. After a bit of confusion with Edda's ticket, we were all checked in and made our way through security. We didn't have much time before boarding but managed to squeeze in some essential snacks for the flight. Boarding the plane we securitized to find it was a smaller plane but this did mean we all had an aisle or window seat! The flight passed and then as we came in to land we were treated to some fantastic views over London sporting everything from The Shard to Buckingham Palace, The O2 to Wembley Stadium and many other landmarks along the Thames. Before we knew it we had touched the tarmac at Heathrow and just had the co and back to Heathrow ahead of us.
The trip was incredible as we did so many new things in such a short amount of time, it will be missed but we should focus on the positive aspects of the trip. Belgrade was a beautiful city in the heart of Serbia, with activities like: hiking, swimming, shopping, exploring the history, touring around famous places, buying souvenirs and going to the Zoo. I can't wait to see if there's another trip abroad that can match the vibe of Serbia. What I loved most about Belgrade was learning little snippets of the language by hearing the locals speak it natively or being buried in rocks with my friends at the lake and laughing so hard on the ground that our knees were covered in chalk and marks! Haha!.
This was the best trip I've ever experienced in my opinion, and even though we won't create this exact same experience ever again, it was fun while it lasted, and it'll be a bittersweet moment going home after such a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Spending a week detoxing from a usual setting was needed, and the memories we make explain it better than words ever could. I may speak on behalf of everyone here that we thank all the leaders for making it happen! Thank you Katherine, Lucy, Edda, Helen, Maddy and Chloe!~ •
